چکیده

Operations in construction and real estate sector are increasingly networked. Practically this appears as a very high share of subcontracting, and recently the outsourcing as a lasting trend has even strengthened this phenomenon. In a major construction project the project manager and the company (s)he is representing can be connected to tens or even several hundred different partners who each are providing services to the project in question. Likewise, the daily business as a whole and its potential for future success is crucially dependent upon the network of partners and potential partners. Monitoring and understanding the status of such networks can be considered as one of the key challenges in modern construction and real estate business. However, the state of the art business process modelling solutions including also project modelling and relating knowledge look rather undeveloped fields from the described viewpoint. This paper reviews first the previous work in relation to modelling of networked companies and business operations. Second, the results shall be presented from case studies in which a tool is being developed for analyzing and visualizing the status of partnering companies around a parent company. In the studied cases the business context is the construction business in Russia and the research object is the networked operations of Finnish companies in this business context.

Modelling and Compensation of uncertain time-delays in networked control systems with plant uncertainty using an Improved RMPC Method

Control systems with digital communication between sensors, controllers and actuators are called as Networked Control Systems (NCSs). In general, NCSs encounter with some problems such as packet dropouts and network induced delays. When plant uncertainty is added to the aforementioned problems, the design of the robust controller that is able to guarantee the stability, becomes more complex. In...

Providing Protection Solutions of Anzali Wetlands With the Modern Watershed Approach

The purpose of the modern watershed study is to use a regional pilot to select an erosion sub-basin and restore it to preserve the downstream wetland. In this research, Alanza watershed, located in the upstream reaches of Anzali wetland, has been selected as a sub-watershed (pilot) with the aim of investigating the effect of mechanical, biological and biomechanical operations on modern watershe...

An integrated simulation-DEA approach to multi-criteria ranking of scenarios for execution of operations in a construction project

The purpose of this study is to examine different scenarios for implementing operations in the pre-construction phase of a project, based on several competing criteria with different importance levels in order to achieve a more efficient execution plan. This paper presents a new framework that integrates discrete event simulation (DES) and data envelopment analysis (DEA) to rank different scena...

NEW ZEALAND BUILT ENVIRONMENT RESEARCH SYMPOSIUM Shaping future directions for collaborative built environment research and practice in New Zealand REDUCING WASTE IN CONSTRUCTION THROUGH HIERARCHICAL CONTROL CONCEPTUAL MODELLING FRAMEWORK

Discrete-Event Simulation is an event-driven simulation in which a real dynamic process is imitated as it progresses over time. It has been recognized as a powerful technique for the quantitative analysis of complex construction operations. The two main DES strategies for modelling construction operations are Process Interaction (PI) and Activity Scanning (AS). Although each strategy has its ow...

Schemaless Representation of Semistructured Data and Schema Construction

We should consider semistructured data of which have a weak schema information in networked information world. To manage such semistructured data eeciently, this paper introduces a data model for semistructured data and operations for schema construction. We transform semistructured data into structured one by introducing schema construction methodology, compared to the former studies which are...
